Rumour: Toyota to launch Etios Cross on May 7th

Japanese auto giant, Toyota unveiled the Etios Cross at the 12th Auto Expo, which was held at Greater Noida in February 2014. Soon after, the company's dealership started accepting bookings and a dedicated website for the car was launched as well. Now we have a date for the launch of the Etios Cross.

A report by Autocar India claims that Toyota is set to launch the Etios Cross in India on May 7, 2014.

The Etios Cross is in essence a Liva hatchback with a body kit that gives it a rugged look. At the front it has a redesigned grille, new bumper with a guard and integrated fog lamps. On the sides is a plastic cladding on the wheel arches and doors. The rear of the car features a new bumper and a plastic strip on the hatch. On the roof, there is a pair of roof rails.

The Etios Cross features piano black interiors and seat fabric with Etios Cross badging. Equipment includes a 2-DIN audio system with USB, Bluetooth compatibility and an AUX port, steering mounted audio controls, rear defogger and wiper, ABS, EBD and dual front airbags, depending upon the variant.

The Etios cross is available with a choice of three engines -

• 1496 cc, 4-cylinder, 90 PS, petrol
• 1197 cc, 4-cylinder, 80 PS, petrol
• 1364 cc, 4-cylinder, 68 PS, diesel

Toyota will pit the Etios Cross against the Volkswagen Cross Polo and the upcoming Fiat Avventura.
