Rumour: Mahindra could launch Mojo in June 2014

Mahindra Two Wheelers announced the Mojo 300 motorcycle in 2010. The company went on to showcased the bike at the 2012 Auto Expo. However, it was still in the prototype stage. Even so, enthusiasts were eagerly waiting for the company to launch it.

Fast-forward to 12th Auto Expo in February 2014 and the company once again displayed the Mojo. This time however, it had a slight tweak to its design. The headlamp cowl had been changed and there was a new fuel tank. The instrument cluster comprised of a digital speedometer with an analogue tachometer, a shift light and low fuel indicator.

Mahindra struggled in its first innings in the motorcycle market in India. This led to the Mojo's launched being put off. Mahindra's Centuro commuter motorcycle, which was launched in 2013, has proved to be successful. This has given the company the confidence to go ahead with the launch of the Mojo and if an NDTV report is to be believed, the bike could be introduced in the market in June 2014.

The Mojo is powered by a 295 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that develops 27 bhp @ 8000 rpm and 25 Nm of torque @ 6500 rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel through a 6-speed gearbox.

The Mahindra Mojo 300 will compete with the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and KTM Duke 390.
