Rumour: Toyota Innova Crysta to be sold alongside next-gen model

The current Innova Crysta is likely to be targeted at fleet operators.

The next-generation Toyota Innova was first spotted in Thailand. Road trials of the new MPV have commenced in India, with its official launch expected later this year.

According to a media report, the current Innova Crysta will not be discontinued and will be sold alongside the next-gen model. It could be targeted at fleet operators.

Unlike the current-gen Innova Crysta which has a ladder-frame chassis, the next-gen Innova (codenamed: 560B) will be based on a monocoque. The new-gen MPV is also expected to switch to a front-wheel-drive layout and come with petrol-hybrid powertrains.

Given the popularity of the Innova Crysta among commercial buyers, its robust architecture and its reliable 2.4-litre diesel engine, it makes a lot of sense for Toyota to continue to offer this model. Reports also suggest that it could be reintroduced with a cosmetic update.
