Rumour: New Maruti Alto K10 to be launched in Jan 2015

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), India's largest passenger car manufacturer in terms of sales, is rumoured to be considering launching an all-new Alto K10 hatchback in January 2015.

A report by Financial Express claims that the new Alto will borrow design cues from the recently launched Celerio hatchback. The new car will also get revamped interiors which will be more spacious than those of the current model.

The new Alto K10 is expected to continue with the same 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, 68 PS engine and 5-speed manual gearbox that is used in the current model. However, the report also says that the new car is also likely to get an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). The AMT-equipped Celerio has been a big hit among Indian buyers since it is said to offer a stress-free driving experience in heavy traffic conditions.

The new K10 will be pitted against the Datsun GO and the Hyundai Eon 1.0, which was launched yesterday.
