My 10,000 km experience with a Seltos DCT: Potential owners take note

The ADAS, especially rear cross-traffic alert and braking has saved me multiple times.

BHPian qr20de recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

So just finished my 10,000 km service, having done multiple long-distance trips in the past seven months. Thought I'd write my experience with the car and the service, for other owners' and potential owners' info, if it helps:

  1. Model is GTX+ Turbo GDI with the DCT
  2. Upgraded to Continental ContiSport tyres around 60km after delivery. Could instantly make out the difference in road noise and overall drivability. Rotated the tyres at the 5000km mark.
  3. An extremely comfortable car to drive on the highways (possibly the tyres also adding to the comfort) with no tiredness and discomfort. I credit the ventilated seats to have made a huge difference here. I find the engine to be very powerful and the transmission butter smooth and quick, thereby not straining especially during overtaking.
  4. Approximate mileage in the city is around 10-11 km/l in full-time eco mode and around 13-14 km/l on the highway, also on eco mode.
  5. I purchased the extended warranty and my convenience package. The 10,000km service bill was approximately Rps. 980 because I changed the engine and cabin air filter. I think for our conditions, this is better and even mentions so in the owner's manual, though probably not the specific mileage.
  6. The ADAS, especially rear cross-traffic alert and braking has saved me multiple times, especially from the bikers speeding and squeezing through vehicles. I've also experienced the emergency brake assistance twice, which was a jarring experience; however, safety comes first and I personally find it to be a necessity for our conditions.
  7. It was interesting to note that KIA does NOT use synthetic engine oil, only mineral, even for diesel vehicles. They claim only a 10,000km service interval for this change but I'm not so sure about the condition of the oil, even though it's 0W-20/30, with our driving and weather conditions. I think I'm going to play it safe from hereon and change this every 5000km, to especially preserve the turbo.

Hope this helps!
