Mercedes-Benz C-Class L unveiled in China

In China, the C-Class L will be available in two variants - C200 L and C260 L.

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the 2021 C-Class L for the Chinese market. The car was showcased at the ongoing Shanghai Auto Show.

The C-Class L is a long-wheelbase version of the regular C-Class. While Mercedes hasn't revealed the dimensions of the car, it is rumoured to be around 89 mm longer than the standard C-Class.

The long-wheelbase version gets a different grille to help differentiate it from the standard model. On the inside, the car gets bigger armrests and comfy headrests. It is also said to offer a plusher ride and has better soundproofing.

In China, the C-Class L will be available in two variants - C200 L and C260 L. The car is expected to come with three engine options including a 1.5-litre motor, a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid unit and a 2.0-litre engine producing 198 BHP. Both variants will come with a 9-speed automatic transmission, while the top-end variants will get all-wheel drive.

Mercedes has no plans to launch the C-Class L in India. However, if launched, it could compete with the BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine.
