Maruti Suzuki Ignis scores 3-stars in Global NCAP crash tests

The India-made Maruti Suzuki Ignis has scored 3-stars for adult occupant safety and 1-star for child safety in crash tests conducted by Global NCAP under the #SaferCarsforAfrica program. The tested model is on sale in South Africa. 

As per the test report, the car offered good protection to the head and neck area of the driver. Protection for the chest area of the driver was found to be weak, while that of the passenger was adequate. Driver's and passenger's knees showed marginal and adequate protection respectively.

The car offered good protection to the head and chest of an 18 month old child seated in a child seat. The car offered good protection to the head and adequate protection to the chest of a 3 year old child. The bodyshell of the car was rated as unstable, while the footwell was found to be stable.

The test car was equipped with front seat belt pretensioners, driver and passenger airbags, ISOFIX child safety seat anchors and ABS.
