Mahindra Thar booked until May 2021

Mahindra has commissioned 50% more capacity than what they had originally planned.

Pawan Goenka, MD and CEO of Mahindra and Mahindra, has stated in an interview that the Thar is booked until May 2021.

The market response for the new Mahindra Thar has been extremely positive. Earlier this month, the carmaker announced that it had received over 20,000 bookings and that the waiting period was more than 6 months. To cater to the high demand, Mahindra has decided to ramp up the production to 3,000 units per month from January 2021.

Mr. Goenka also stated that the company has commissioned 50% more capacity than what they had originally planned. Also, while the waiting list is long, there are constraints on how much they can increase the production capacity.

The second generation Thar was launched in October this year. Just recently, Global NCAP published the crash test results for the new Thar. The offroader scored a 4-star rating for both adult and child occupant safety.
