All-electric Mercedes G-Wagon now available in India; bookings open

The G 580 is powered by a 116 kWh battery, which offers 386 km of range.

Mercedes-Benz has started accepting pre-bookings for the all-electric G-Wagon in India. Bookings will be open till June 15, 2024.

The electric version of the G-Wagon made its global debut in April this year. It comes in a single trim called G 580 and carries forward the same boxy bodyshell as the ICE version.

The electric G-Class gets a gloss black front fascia similar to other pure-electric models in the Mercedes range. The electric SUV also gets circular LED headlamps, a rounded front bumper, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a nifty storage box at the rear instead of a spare wheel.

Inside, the electric G-wagon comes with the brand's latest MBUX infotainment system with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other features include temperature-controlled cup holders, wireless charging, keyless entry, Burmester 3D surround-sound system, rear-seat entertainment units and more.

The G 580 electric SUV is based on a ladder-frame chassis. It uses a 116 kWh battery pack that is said to offer a maximum range of 386 km. The battery powers four electric motors with a combined output of 580 BHP and 1165 Nm.

The G 580 is capable of sprinting from 0-98 km/h in 4.4 seconds and has a top speed of 180 km/h. It comes with fast-charging capabilities of up to 200 kW at Level 3 DC charger, allowing 10-80% charge in 30 minutes.
