Made in India Baleno drives on Japanese roads

Made in India Maruti Baleno cars have been unloaded at the Toyohashi Port in Japan. This is the first car which Maruti Suzuki has exported to Japan.

At the time of the Baleno's launch in India, the company confirmed that this car would be manufactured at its Manesar plant and exported to over 100 global markets. India is likely to export 30,000 - 40,000 units of the Baleno annually.

Recently, we reported that Maruti exported Balenos to Poland, Germany, Belgium, Slovenia and Italy. The exported cars were in left-hand drive configuration and were powered by a 1,242 cc (K12C) petrol engine, with automatic and 5-speed manual gearboxes. The cars exported to South Africa had a 1.4L petrol heart with 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmissions.

Later this year, the Baleno will be introduced with a 1.0L Boosterjet (turbo petrol) engine, which will make 110 BHP and 170 Nm of torque. This car was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. It is expected to be launched in India during the festive season (i.e. Diwali).
