Kia planning hatchback, sedan to take on i20 & Verna

According to a media report, Kia is developing a premium hatchback and a mid-size sedan to compete with the Hyundai i20 and Verna. Codenamed as KP1 and KP2, proposals for the new models have been sent to the Kia headquarters for approval.

Kia has already confirmed that its first offering for the Indian market will be an SUV. The new hatchback and mid-size sedan will reportedly be launched within a year following the launch of the SUV, which arrives in the second half of 2019.

Details about the new models are scarce, however these could be built at Kia's manufacturing facility in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. That said, there has been no word yet from Kia confirming these reports.
