Hyundai to launch new crossover to rival Maruti Fronx in 2026

The Bayon-based compact SUV will be sold alongside the Venue and could be priced in the Rs 10-15 lakh range.

Today, one is spoilt for choice when it comes to compact SUVs. The crossover body style is available across a wide range of prices from sub-4 meter SUVs like the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, and Kia Sonet to raised hatchbacks like the Maruti Fronx.

Hyundai is also eyeing the lower end of the crossover segment in India. As per the latest reports, the carmaker plans to introduce a new compact crossover to rival the Maruti Fronx in 2026. The new model is likely to be based on the Bayon sold in the international market.

The Bayon is based on the Hyundai i20. It was unveiled in 2021 and recently received an update. The latest iteration gives it a Verna-inspired front fascia with a full-width LED light bar and an overall aggressive design.

The report states that the Bayon-based compact SUV will be sold alongside the Venue. It is expected to be priced in the Rs 10-15 lakh range.
