Kawasaki to launch Z250SL, ZX-6R 636, Vulcan S in India

Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer Kawasaki, has announced that it will launch three new motorcycles in India within this year. The three models in question are likely to be the Z250SL, Ninja ZX-6R 636 and Vulcan S.

Z250SL:

The Z250SL is a naked motorcycle, powered by a 249 cc, four-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine that develops 27.6 bhp @ 9700 rpm and 22.6 Nm of torque @ 8200 rpm. It has a 6-speed gearbox and disc brakes at the front and rear. The bike has a trellis frame and a taller stance than the Z250. The Z250 SL weighs about 20 kg lesser that the twin-cylinder Z250.

Kawasaki is likely to launch the Z250SL in mid-2015. It is expected to be imported as a CKD and will be priced in the region of Rs. 2 lakh.

Ninja ZX-6R 636:

The Ninja ZX-6R 636 is a faired motorcycle with a pressed aluminium perimeter frame. It is powered by a 636 cc, four-stroke, 4-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that puts out 129.3 bhp @ 13500 rpm and 71 Nm of torque @ 11500 rpm. Power is transmitted to rear wheel through a 6-speed transmission. Stopping power is provided by dual disc brakes at the front and a single disc brake at the rear.

Some of the features on the ZX-6R 636 include ABS, traction control, two power modes and a slipper clutch. Instrumentation consists of an analogue tachometer and multi-function LCD screen and an economical riding indicator.

The Ninja ZX-6R 636 is expected to come to India as a CBU and will be priced at Rs. 12-13 lakh. It is likely to be launched in the third quarter of 2015.

Kawasaki Vulcan S:

The Vulcan S is a cruiser motorcycle with urban styling. It has a perimeter frame made of high-tensile steel and a low seat. It has a 649 cc, four-stroke, parallel twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine that develops 60.3 bhp @ 7500 rpm and 63 Nm of torque at 6600 rpm. The bike comes with a telescopic fork suspension at the front and a monoshock at the rear and single disc brakes on both wheels.

Equipment includes adjustable clutch and brake levers and adjustable foot pegs. ABS is a part of optional equipment. Instrumentation consists of an analogue tachometer and multi-function LCD screen and an economical riding indicator.

Like the Z250SL, the Vulcan S is expected to be imported as a CKD and is estimated to be priced at Rs. 6 lakh. The bike is expected to be launch in mid-2015.
