JK Tyre VEM 045 enters Limca Books as largest off-road tyre

The JK Tyre VEM 045 has been named the largest off-road tyre in India by the Limca Book of Records.

The 40.00-57 VEM 045 was launched in 2014. It has a diameter of 12 feet and weighs 3.4 tonnes. The tyre is designed for rigid dump trucks that have a payload capacity of up to 240 tonnes. 

The VEM 045 series features a silica-based dual tread compound, nylon construction with a high denier fabric and bead construction. It also features connecting reinforcement at lug bottom in the shoulder region. The tyre is claimed to offer better traction, flushing and contact pressure distribution. It is claimed to be reliable under impact loads and generates less heat due to less flexing of lugs.
