Hyundai reveals next-gen Creta's dimensions & engine options

According to a media report, the next generation Creta is likely to be larger than outgoing model. It is expected to be offered with two petrol and a diesel engine option.

The report suggests that the new Creta measures 4,300 mm in length, 1,790 mm in width, 1,622 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,610 mm. This makes it 30 mm longer and 10 mm wider than the outgoing model. Its wheelbase has also increased by 20 mm.

The new Creta is based on the ix25 that was unveiled earlier this year in China. In terms of styling, it is expected to get a new cascade grille and a new headlamp setup. It is likely to feature trapezoidal tail lights and a light bar that runs across the rear end. On the inside, the ix25 gets a redesigned interior with a vertically oriented touchscreen infotainment system and a new multi-function steering wheel.

The new Creta is expected to be offered with two petrol engines including a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated unit producing 113 BHP and 144 Nm of torque and a 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine making 138 BHP and 242 Nm of torque. It could also get a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that develops 113 BHP and 250 Nm of torque. While the diesel could be offered with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission, the petrol engine is expected to get 6-speed manual, 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and CVT options.
