Hyundai receives 20,000 bookings for new i20 in just 20 days

Hyundai has announced that it has received 20,000 bookings for the new i20 hatchback in just 20 days. The company started accepting bookings on October 28 while the car was launched on November 5.

The new i20 is available in four variants - Magna, Sportz, Asta, and Asta (O) and prices start at Rs. 6.80 lakh (ex-showroom). The Hyundai claims that 85% of the customers have opted for Sportz and higher variants. Nearly 45% of the customers have preferred variants enabled with BlueLink telematics. Close to 30% bookings have been made for cars with a sunroof and 35% of the customers have opted for models with an air purifier. 25% of the customers have opted for cars with IVT / iMT / DCT gearboxes and almost 20% have opted for the 1.5-litre U2 CRDi diesel engine.

Hyundai has also stated that it delivered more than 4,000 units of the car during the Diwali season. The company claims that it has received an overwhelming response for the Virtual Launch of the i20 with videos having crossed 47 million views and upto 3 times higher search volumes since launch.

The new i20 comes with a 10.24-inch floating touchscreen infotainment head-unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a 7-speaker Bose audio system, digital instrument cluster and Bluelink connected car technology. Some of the other notable features include cruise control, automatic climate control, ambient lighting, wireless charging with cooling pad, sunroof and air purifier.

The car is offered with three engine options. These include a 1.0L turbocharged petrol paired with either a 7-speed DCT or clutchless iMT, a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol mated to either a 5-speed manual or CVT and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine that comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
