Hyundai recently achieved a new milestone as the cumulative sales of the i10 surpassed the 3.3 million units mark.
Out of the 3.3 million i10 hatchbacks sold worldwide, 2 million units were sold in India alone. The remaining 1.3 million units were exported to more than 140 countries, including South Africa, Mexico, Chile and Peru.
Hyundai introduced the i10 in 2007, which was subsequently followed by the Grand i10 and Grand i10 NIOS. Currently, in its third generation, the popular hatchback is available with a 1.2L Kappa Petrol MT, 1.2L Kappa Petrol AMT and 1.2L Bi-Fuel Kappa Petrol with CNG powertrains.
On average, Hyundai has sold over 1 lakh units of the i10 annually in India. In FY2024-25, over 45% of Grand i10 NIOS customers were first-time car buyers, and over 83% of the buyers were married. Gujarat, Maharashtra and Haryana are the top 3 markets for the Grand i10 NIOS.
Unsoo Kim, MD, Hyundai Motor India Ltd., said, “What makes this milestone even more special is the fact that the current generation of i10 has achieved up to 91.3% localization for the domestic market, while it is 91.4% for the export models.”
