Osamu Suzuki, former Chairman and CEO of Suzuki, has been conferred with Padma Vibhushan - India’s second-highest civilian award - posthumously for his contributions to the Indian automobile industry.
Osamu Suzuki passed away in December last year at the age of 94. Toshihiro Suzuki, Representative Director and President of Suzuki Motor Corporation, accepted the award on behalf of his late father.
Osamu Suzuki led the Japanese auto giant from 1978 to 2021, before stepping down at the age of 91. He played a crucial role in the formation of Maruti Udyog Limited in 1981. He was also the Director & Honorary Chairman of Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL).
