Hyundai Creta to be launched in India on July 21, 2015

Last week, Hyundai announced that it will name its upcoming SUV, the "Creta". The company also revealed that the global roll-out of the vehicle will start in the second half of 2015 in India, followed soon after with sales in world markets.

According to a report by Economic Times (ET), the Creta will be launched on July 21, 2015. The production of the car will begin around June 20. This means that Hyundai has advanced the launch of the car by a period of two months. With this move, the company plans to take advantage of the upcoming festivals to give its sales a strong start. ET also claims that Hyundai is planning to sell 4,000-5,000 units of the Creta. It is expecting the automatic variant of the compact SUV to account for 10% of its total sales.

The Creta is based on the ix25 compact SUV that was unveiled in China last year. Measuring 4.27 metres in length, it is likely to be a challenger for the Renault Duster. The Creta will have will have 5 seats and is expected to be powered by the 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines. A 1.4-litre diesel power plant is also rumoured to be in the works.
