Hyderabad company partners with SkyDrive for its flying cars

SD-XX eVTOLs claim to offer state-of-the-art flying cars which are emission-free and affordable.

According to media reports, Cyient, a tech company in Hyderabad, India, has signed up as the engineering partner for Japanese eVTOL manufacturer SkyDrive. The partnership between the two companies is said to encompass product development, manufacturing & digital services.

Reports state that Cyient will play a major role in creating the first eVTOL technical publication manual, which will be a milestone not only for SkyDrive, but also for the entire Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) industry.

Apart from the partnership with the Hyderabad-based company, SkyDrive has also partnered with the Government of Gujarat, with plans to introduce electric air taxi operations in the state by 2027. It is currently said to be laying the groundwork with the help of the government and other local partners.

SkyDrive is also backed by Suzuki Motors, which has an established presence in the state. The flying car manufacturer even showcased its 1/5 scale prototype, the SD-05, at the Gujarat Global Summit earlier this year. The SD-05 is the latest iteration of the SD-03 showcased a few years ago as the world's smallest eVTOL. The SD-03 is 4m in length and width and 2m in height, occupying the space of two car parks.

SD-XX eVTOLs claim to offer state-of-the-art flying cars which are emission-free and affordable. The SD-05 weighs just 500 kg and has a top speed of 100 km/h.
