General Motors: 50 crore vehicles up

General Motors has officially crossed the 500 million unit production mark with GM branded vehicles built globally over the past 106 years. On the occasion GM CEO Mary Barra said that the brand plans to sell “1,000 new vehicles per hour, 24 hours per day.” in 2015.

China is now GM’s largest market, where it has 11 joint ventures and two wholly owned foreign enterprises. GM's presence in India is limited to Chevrolet. The North American automaker will soon be adding the Spin MPV and Trailblazer SUV to its line-up, in order to boost its relatively weak sales in India. The company will also be increasing its focus on exports, in order to avoid any loses on the production front.
