Fiat testing Doblo MPV in India

Fiat has started testing the Doblo, a seven-seater MPV in India. The car has been caught on camera during its test runs near the company's plant in Ranjangaon, near Pune. As the pictures show, the test vehicle is not wearing any camouflage whatsoever and bears a temporary registration.

The Italian carmaker has not revealed any plans of entering the MPV segment in India and it certainly has no plans of launching the Doblo in 2014. However, the Maruti Ertiga-led segment is booming in the country at the moment and offerings from Honda (Mobilio) and Datsun (GO+) are being readied for launch. Fiat might not want to be left behind in the race and could consider introducing a competitor in the segment in the future.

The Doblo is available in international markets with a wide range of engines, two of which, the 1.4-litre petrol and 1.3-litre MultiJet are also made in India.
