Demonetization: Toll exemption extended till December 2

In light of the cash crunch prevailing in the country after the Government of India's decision to demonetize higher currency notes, the exemption in toll tax has been extended till December 2, 2016. This exemption is applicable on toll booths located on all national highways in the country.

This marks the fourth such extension post the demonetization announcement on November 8. Toll collection was first exempted till November 11, and subsequently extended to November 14, 18 and 24. This extension is being made to reduce the inconvenience faced by citizens due to the unavailability of new currency notes.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has also notified that toll booths will accept old Rs. 500 notes from December 3 to December 15.
