Atal Setu: Mumbai Trans Harbour link opens for traffic

The total length of the sea bridge is 21.8 km. Out of which, 16.5 km is over water, making it the longest sea bridge in the country.

The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu, also known as the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), has been opened to the public. The sea bridge was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 12, 2024.

The Atal Setu connects Sewri to Nhava Sheva, reducing the distance and time required to travel from Mumbai to Navi Mumbai. It will also serve as a crucial connection for the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport and the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT).

The total length of the sea bridge is 21.8 km. Out of which, 16.5 km is over water, making it the longest sea bridge in the country.

The bridge is equipped with a new open-road tolling system that uses cameras and scanners and eliminates the need for traditional toll booths. The toll for cars has been fixed at Rs 250 for a one-way trip and Rs 375 for a return journey.
