Datsun, the budget brand of Japanese carmaker, Nissan has made its debut in Russia with the unveiling of the on-DO, its first offering for the country.

The on-DO is a four-door sedan with the five seats. It was styled by Datsun's Global Design Center and was developed and engineered in Russia by Datsun's alliance partner, AUTOVAZ. The company claims that the car is ideally suited for Russia's driving conditions.

The Datsun on-DO is powered by a 1.6-litre, petrol engine that is said to produce 87 hp. It is 4337 mm long, 1700 mm wide and stands 1500 mm high. Pictures suggest that its interiors are spacious and decently equipped. The car has a boot space of 530 litres.

The on-Do will be built at the AUTOVAZ plant in Togliatti, Russia. Datsun plans to price the car under 4,00,000 Roubles. Sales are scheduled to start in the summer of 2014. The car will be sold through a network of 25 fully-branded dealerships supported by Nissan dealer investors. The company plans to add 75 more dealerships over the next two years.

Datsun has not revealed any plans of bringing the on-DO to India.
