Africa-spec Suzuki Ertiga awarded 1 star by Global NCAP

The test car was a Suzuki Ertiga manufactured in India for the African market.

The Africa-spec Suzuki Ertiga has been awarded a 1-star rating by Global NCAP. It received 23.63 points for adult occupant safety and 19.40 points for child occupant protection.

As per the crash test report, the Ertiga offered good head and neck protection in the frontal impact test. The driver’s chest showed marginal protection and the passenger’s chest showed good protection. The driver’s and passenger’s knees showed marginal protection, while the driver’s and passenger’s tibias showed adequate protection.

The head, abdomen and pelvis showed good protection, chest showed adequate protection in the side impact test. The side pole impact test was not performed on the car.

The child seat for the 3-year-old was able to prevent forward head exposure during the frontal impact test, but neck and chest protection was limited. The child seat for the 18-month-old could not prevent high deceleration and offered poor protection to the chest and neck during the frontal impact.

The test car was manufactured in India for the African market. It does not offer 3-point seat belts in all seating positions as standard. It has dual front airbags, ISOFIX, ESC and seat belt reminders, pretensioners and load limiters.
