2016 Toyota Etios facelift revealed in undisguised spy shots

A set of spy shots have surfaced on the Internet that showcase the 2016 Toyota Etios facelift without any camouflage. The updated car is set to be launched before this year's festive season, while various media reports are pointing towards a launch on 13 September, 2016.

The Etios facelift looks identical to the Etios Platinum that was launched in Brazil last month. It features a V-shaped grille that gets broader in the middle in order to accommodate the T-logo. Chrome detailing has been added on the top and bottom edges of the grille. Other changes at the front include a new bumper which now comes with a wide blacked out area and a bigger air dam. The fog lamp housings have been detailed with chrome elements. The side profile will likely remain similar to that of the current model, while the rear gets a chrome strip on the boot lid and a redesigned bumper.

There aren't any changes on the inside, as the Etios facelift carries forward the same dual-tone dashboard design of the current model. It won’t get a touch screen infotainment system, which has off late become a norm in segments even lower than that of the Etios.

Since the new facelift will only be a cosmetic update, it will continue to be powered by a 1.4-litre diesel which makes 68 BHP and 170 Nm of torque and a 1.5-litre petrol engine which makes 89 BHP and 132 Nm of torque. Transmission duties will be handled by a 5-speed manual gearbox.
