Yamaha recalls YZF-R1 for headlight lead coupler replacement

Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer, Yamaha has recalled its flagship motorcycle in India, the YZF-R1. The recall has been issued to change a lead coupler in the headlight which is overheating and melting, which in turn, can lead to arcing and result in short circuit.

The recall pertains to YZF-R1 bikes manufactured between October 2008 and August 2013. Yamaha will replace the headlight sub lead on the affected bikes with a modified one. This replacement will be carried out free of cost. The company has advised customers not to use their bikes till the headlight sub lead is replaced.
