XUV700 owner experiencing ADAS for the first time in an MG Hector

It was my friend's car and I drove it for 300 km on a National Highway where I used a couple of ADAS features.

BHPian puntolover recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

Drove my friend’s car for 300 kms on a National Highway.

Positives:

  • Lane assist works perfectly on highways with proper markings.
  • Overall, the car is very comfortable on highways, cruising on 100 kmph at ~1650 Rpm and the cabin is very silent at this speed.
  • The display quality and leather touch on door pads are impressive.
  • 120 kmph alert is simple and not loud which is good for long drives. Doesn’t irritate much when compared to other cars.

Negatives:

  • I felt adaptive cruise control is a bummer in MG Hector and we can’t disable it from the menu and use it as a normal cruise control AFAIK.
  • It activates at an early stage and applies brakes more suddenly than you require which is quite annoying for the driver and passengers as well.
  • AC controls on the touchscreen are quite annoying as you need to touch 2 times to get into the AC control screen and then select the temp and fan speed which needs a lot of distraction from the road. At least a physical button for fan speed and temp would have helped a lot. Though it has a Max AC button near the armrest.
  • Power window switch operation felt cheap. Especially the window roll sound and switch action are equivalent to Wagon R or Swift.
  • Screen settings display reminds you of Redmi phone icons which is not good when compared to other display modes.
  • 80kmph alert stays on screen for longer time and blocks other readings on MID.
  • There is no Average fuel consumption display on MID.

Finally a few parting shots with the Hector along with my XUV700.
