Volvo plans to launch the EX30 electric SUV in India later this year. It might also be the brand’s third locally assembled EV after the EX40 and C40 Recharge.
Jyoti Malhotra, MD of Volvo Cars India, has revealed that the company is evaluating the local assembly of the EX30. “We have been clear about bringing one EV every year and will continue to do so. By the end of 2025, the EX30 will be introduced in India,” Malhotra said. “We are finalizing our feasibility study to go through the local assembly route,” he added.
The EX30 is expected to be the most affordable EV offered by Volvo in India. It is based on Geely’s SEA platform and features a compact design. It has the ‘Thor’s Hammer’ headlights and split LED taillights.
Inside, the EX30 gets a 12.3-inch vertically-oriented touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a 3-spoke steering wheel and a slim display for the digital instrument cluster.
The EX30 comes with two battery options: 51 kWh and 69 kWh, with a range of 344 km and 480 km (WLTP cycle), respectively. It is available in either single or dual-motor variants with up to 421 BHP.
