Volkswagen Virtus to be unveiled in India in March 2022

Besides its sibling, the Virtus will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City and Hyundai Verna.

Volkswagen is set to launch a mid-size sedan later this year and as per a media report, it could be unveiled as early as the first week of March.

The new mid-size sedan is likely to be called the Virtus. It will be based on the MQB-A0-IN platform that also underpins the Skoda Slavia. According to the brand director Ashish Gupta, the car's market launch has been scheduled for May 2022.

The Virtus is expected to be offered with 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbo petrol engines. In the Slavia, these engines are rated at 113 BHP / 175 Nm and 148 BHP / 250 Nm, respectively. A 6-speed manual transmission is offered as standard with both engines. The former gets a 6-speed automatic option, while a 7-speed DSG is available with the 1.5L engine.

Besides its sibling, the Virtus will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City and Hyundai Verna.
