Mercedes-Benz has released a teaser video of the X-Class pickup, ahead of its global unveiling on July 18, 2017. The X-Class will mark Mercedes' entry into the premium pickup segment.

Mercedes-Benz first revealed its plans for manufacturing a pickup when it unveiled two concepts - the Powerful Adventurer and the Stylish Explorer in October 2016. The final production version is expected to be based on these concepts.

The X-Class has been developed under partnership with the Renault-Nissan Alliance. It will thus share its ladder-frame platform with the Nissan Navara and Renault Alaskan. It will also be manufactured alongside these models at Nissan's factory in Spain and Renault's plant in Argentina. Production at the Spain plant will begin by the end of this year. This plant will cater to markets like Europe, Australia and South Africa. Meanwhile, the Latin American markets will be supplied the X-Class from the Argentina plant, which is expected to start manufacturing operations from 2018. Once launched, the pickup will be sold by Mercedes-Benz's passenger car division.

The X-Class is expected to be offered with a range of 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. Four-cylinder powerplants will come with a RWD system, while larger six-cylinder units will come with the optional Mercedes' 4MATIC all wheel drive system.
