Took a 20-minute long test ride of the Tiger 900 Rally Pro today from Delhi. I wanted to test ride the GT variant, however, the test ride bike was not yet available.
A few points from the perspective of a Versys 650 owner:
- The Rally Pro variant looked intimidating. However, as I sat on it, it felt lower than the V650 thanks to the narrower front seat. I could flat-foot both my feet comfortably (I’m 6 ft).
- On the go, the bike is very balanced and doesn’t feel heavy at all. The handlebar is quite wide and the bike felt nimbler than the Versys.
- My wife immediately noticed the lack of vibrations. The low-end is a lot smoother than the Versys. However, as the RPMs rose past 5k, I felt it to be a bit more gruff and vibey than the versys.
- The engine is extremely tractable. Speeds as low as 25kmph were possible in 5th gear without stalling.
- Heat was an issue in the Delhi traffic. Both self and pillion felt that the heat was directed at the lower legs.
- The windscreen even at the highest setting was not enough to stop the wind blast as much as I wanted. It's not bad, but my GIVI touring screen on the Versys almost completely keeps the wind out from the upper body except the arms.
- Tried the quick-shifter. Not very experienced with this tech. However, the shifts felt smooth and with minimal jerk.
Nice package overall. The Rally variant has a lot of accessories as standard which I feel that Triumph could have avoided and kept the price down.
