Upcoming Mahindra MPV spotted testing in Chennai

A heavily camouflaged test mule of what is believed to be a new MPV from Mahindra has been spotted in Chennai. It is the first time that this MPV has been caught on camera. Owing to its size and road stance, speculations suggest that Mahindra might position it against the Toyota Innova Crysta.

The Innova Crysta has been selling exceptionally well, despite the fact that it is currently not on sale in the high-volume Delhi-NCR market due to the diesel car ban. This has prompted various other automakers to introduce their offerings in the segment. Thus, the spotted vehicle might be Mahindra's take on the full-size 7-seater MPV segment.

Though there are no badges on the car, the front grille design is a giveaway of it being a Mahindra product. Further details about the upcoming MPV are scarce at the moment.

It is being speculated that Mahindra will launch the new MPV next year with the downsized 1.99-litre mHawk diesel engine. A petrol mill might be on offer as well, keeping in mind the changing market preferences.
