Test rode the new KTM Adventure 390: My quick take on the bike

I felt the handlebar position is much low for standing and riding. I am used to risers so that can be fixed.

BHPian nasirkaka recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

After attending the KTM organised Offroad test ride event at Tribal Adventure, test rode the bike again yesterday.

On my way to work yesterday, saw this 390X parked at the Electronic City KTM showroom. Casually went in to check if I could test ride it. On close look, it was one of the bikes used at Tribal Adventure for the off-road event. It was washed, but still had some mud marks from all the bashing last sunday.

Took the bike for a spin and first thing that struck me was excessive vibes. Lots of them at the footpeg and some on handlebar too. The bike is unrefined and gruff to ride at low city speeds and much more vibey, especially compared to the 400X which I ride these days. Infact 400X felt much smooth and supple in comparison. The feeling changes once the revs climb and at higher speeds the bike is a joy to ride. But its a big trade off where city commuting experience will be greatly compromised in the present state the 390adv is in. I think this is the biggest factor that is bothering me as I commute daily 50 km in city traffic.

Else enough is already been said about the bike. I also felt the handlebar position is much low for standing and riding. I am used to risers so that can be fixed. horn may also need upgrade. Seat is a bit narrow and may show discomfort over longer hours on the saddle.

I had booked one and may cancel my booking. (what is the process to cancel, incase anyone knows). I was not really convinced with the bike. Its feature rich for sure, but the ride experience did not tug at the heart. News of CF moto 450mt is also to be blamed a bit.

Standing next to my 400X.
