Tata Tiago prices hiked by up to Rs. 8,000

Tata Motors has hiked prices of all the variants of the Tiago hatchback in the range of Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 8,000. The Tiago was launched in April 2016 and priced between Rs. 3.2 lakh and Rs. 5.54 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

In July 2016, Tata Motors sold 13,586 units in India, out of which 5,114 units were of the Tiago. The Tiago is now Tata's best-selling car, contributing to around 38% of its monthly domestic sales. With the bookings count touching the 40,000 mark, it has a waiting period of up to 4 months. The Indian automaker has already revised its production cycle to try and minimize the waiting period.

The Tata Tiago is available in both petrol and diesel versions. While the petrol engine is a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder unit that puts out 84 BHP and 114 Nm of torque, the diesel is a 1.05-litre, three-cylinder mill that develops 69 BHP and 140 Nm. Both these engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

Tata Motors might hike the prices of the Tiago again before this year's festive season.
