Tata Motors is expected to start training its service centre staff for its upcoming compact SUV - the Nexon, from the second week of July. This will be closely followed by the sales training of Tata Motors' dealership staff. The training schedules have been dated around a month prior to the Nexon's official launch in India, which is expected to be slated for the month of August 2017.

The Nexon will be the third new product launch from Tata Motors this year, after the Hexa SUV and the Tigor compact sedan. It will mark the company's entry into the compact SUV segment, which is currently dominated by the Maruti Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport.

Tata Motors had showcased a production-ready concept of the Nexon at the 2016 Auto Expo. Recent spy shots reveal that the final production-version will borrow most of the concept's design elements. Thus, the Nexon is expected to come with a tall smiling front grille, swept-back headlamps with projectors on the top-end variants and a large front bumper with circular fog lamps. The sides will feature flared wheel arches, a floating roof design with a small blacked out area on the C-pillar and 5-spoke alloy wheels. The rear bumper will house a large blacked out area for the number plate, while the tail lamps will be given a split-section layout.

The Nexon is expected to come with two engine options - a 1.2-litre turbocharged Revotron petrol and a newly-developed 1.5-litre Revotorq diesel. Both engines will come with a manual gearbox as standard, while an AMT unit might also be on offer as an option.
