Tata Motors has rolled out the Nano Twist XT, a variant of the Nano equipped with Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS). The car is priced at Rs. 2.36 lakh (ex-Delhi), which is approximately Rs. 13,000 more than the LX, thus replacing it as the top-of-the-line variant.

The power steering, which is developed by ZF Lenksysteme, uses a brushless motor and comes with an “active return” feature. Tata claims that the system will make the Nano easier to manoeuvre and park. The system is also said to improve the car’s stability.

Changes to the exterior of the car include a new colour called Damson Purple and a new rear bumper with additional vents.

On the inside, there is a new instrument cluster which displays a digital (progressive bars) fuel gauge, a temperature indicator and a new MID that can be switched to display an odometer, a trip meter, average fuel efficiency and distance to empty.

There is no change to the engine, gearbox, brakes or suspension of the car. The Twist uses the same 624 cc, 2-cylinder engine, mated to a 4-speed gearbox, which is found in the other variants of the car. Producing 38 PS and 51 Nm of torque, it can propel the car to a top speed of 105 kph. The Twist comes with drum brakes on all four wheels.

Tata Motors will accept bookings for the Nano Twist from today.
