Tata Motors - Volkswagen MoU: More details revealed

Tata Motors has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Volkswagen Automotive Group at the ongoing Geneva Motor Show. While the announcement was made yesterday itself, Tata Motors has now revealed some more details about this partnership.

As mentioned in the earlier report, the MoU has been signed to share deeper information between the two companies to create synergies for exploring a long-term collaboration. The MoU was signed by Tata Motors' CEO & MD - Guenter Butschek, Volkswagen AG's CEO - Matthias Muellar, and Skoda's CEO - Bernhard Maier.

Skoda Auto will be leading the partnership on behalf of the Volkswagen Group. Products and technologies developed under this partnership will be targeted towards India and other emerging markets. Tata and Skoda will be deciding the final guiding principles and terms of cooperation in the next few months, following which, the two companies will start joint development work.

Tata Motors is hoping to launch the first product developed under this partnership in the calendar year 2019.
