Skoda to hike car prices by up to 2.5% from January 1, 2021

Skoda plans to launch the Vision IN crossover in India in Q2-2021.

Prices of Skoda cars are likely to be hiked by up to 2.5% from January 1, 2021.

The company spokesperson has stated that there has been a surge in input costs due to significant volatility in the global commodity prices and foreign exchange rates. The carmaker has been absorbing these incremental costs, but is now considering a price increase.

Skoda plans to unveil the production-spec Vision IN crossover in the first quarter of next year, and it will go on sale in the following quarter.

The Vision IN is Skoda's first product under the India 2.0 project. It is likely to be powered by a 1.5-litre TSI turbo petrol engine producing 148 BHP and 250 Nm. The engine will be paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
