The Hyundai Elite i20 will soon get a midlife facelift. A test mule of the new hatchback was recently spotted testing near Chennai.

Latest spy images suggest that the Elite i20 facelift will get a new single-frame hexagonal grille similar to the new Xcent. Unlike the compact sedan which has chrome slats in its grille, the test mule has a black, mesh-type unit. The front bumper and headlights are also likely to receive minor updates. The headlights are expected to feature integrated LED DRLs. This particular test mule has a set of fog lamps as well. Furthermore, the test mule can be seen sporting new alloy wheel design with a black finish. The camouflaged rear end of the vehicle could be hiding a redesigned rear hatch, tail lamps and bumper.

The new Elite i20 is expected to come with updated interiors with revised features and improved equipment.

The Elite i20 facelift is expected to be offered with the same set of engines as the outgoing model. The current lineup includes a 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre petrol engines producing 82 BHP and 99 BHP respectively. The 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine with 89 BHP / 220 Nm is likely to be retained as well. Transmission options include 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic with the petrol engine, while a 6-speed manual gearbox is offered on the diesel model.

There has been no official word about its launch date, however, Hyundai might unveil the facelift version at the 2018 Auto Expo.
