A single brochure image of the upcoming 2016 Hyundai Elantra has been leaked, before its official launch. The brochure reveals that the sixth-gen Elantra will be offered in five variants: S, SX, SX AT, SX (O), and SX (O) AT. While the petrol Elantra will be available in all five variants, the diesel can't be opted in the SX AT trim.

The 2016 Elantra will come with two engine options - a 2.0-litre, four cylinder, dual VTVT petrol engine rated at 150 BHP and a 1.6-litre CRDi diesel unit that churns out 126 BHP. Both the petrol and diesel power mills will be offered with the option of a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Suspension setups include McPherson struts at the front and a coupled torsion beam axle at the rear. The 2016 Elantra gets disc brakes all round. It rides on 10-spoke, 16-inch alloy wheels that are wrapped around with 205/60 section tyres.

Coming to safety features, dual front airbags and ABS are standard across all variants, while the top-end SX (O) AT variant gets a total of six airbags, including front, side and curtain. Other features like Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), and Hill Start Assist (HSA) will be available in the top two SX (O) and SX (O) AT variants.

The new Elantra gets HID projector headlamps with LED DRLs on the top SX (O) and SX (O) AT variants, while lower trims will get conventional halogen units. Except the entry-level S-trim, each variant will come with LED tail lights. Hyundai will even offer an electric sunroof with pinch guard on the top-end SX (O) AT trim.

On the inside, the new Elantra gets an all-black dashboard. Leather upholstery will be available in the SX (O) and SX (O) AT variants, while lower trim levels will get fabric upholstery.

In the two top-end SX (O) variants, the driver will get a 10-way electrically adjustable seat, which even has electric lumbar support. Moreover, the SX (O) AT variant also includes a front seat ventilation system. Dual-zone automatic climate control will be available from the SX trim, while the base S-variant will get a manual AC.

A 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with USB, AUX and Bluetooth connectivity and four speakers is available in the base S trim level. The other trim levels get an 8-inch touch-screen infotainment system. This system is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and supports navigation and voice recognition. The bigger system also gets two additional tweeters.

Other features on offer include auto cruise control, which is available in the top two variants. Push button start/stop is also available in the SX (O) and SX (O) AT variants. Meanwhile, the automatic trims - SX AT and SX (O) AT get Hyundai's Drive Mode Select that offers three driving modes - Normal, Eco & Sport. This feature allows altering the throttle response and steering characteristics depending on the driver's requirements.

The sixth-gen Elantra is expected to make its Indian debut later today, i.e., 23rd August 2016.
