Russia: Renault reveals Kaptur crossover

Renault has revealed the Kaptur crossover, which is designed for emerging markets.

The Kaptur is based on the Duster platform. It measures 4,333 mm in length, 1,813 mm in width and 1,613 mm in height. It has a wheelbase measuring 2,674 mm, a ground clearance of 204 mm and a 387-litre boot. With the rear seats folded, the boot space can be increased to 1,200 litres.

The styling of the Kaptur is influenced by the Captur, which is on sale in Europe. The vehicle comes with projector headlamps, LED daytime running lamps, LED tail lamps, dual-tone colour schemes and 16 / 17-inch alloy wheels. Renault has given the car black cladding along its sides and wheel arches and silver skid plates at the front and rear, which give it a rugged look.

On the inside, the Kaptur features a 5-seater layout with a 60:40 split folding rear seat. The car is equipped with a MediaNav infotainment system with a 7-inch display and Bluetooth connectivity, climate control and keyless entry & go.

Renault has not revealed details of the engines that it plans to use in the Kaptur. However, it has revealed that the vehicle will get an all-wheel drive system with a locking centre differential. For Russia and CIS countries, the Kaptur will get features like Renault's Remote Engine Start system, heated front seats and a heated windscreen as well.

The Kaptur will be manufactured at Renault’s Moscow plant and is scheduled to go on sale later this year.
