Rumour: Skoda Kodiaq bookings commenced

Skoda dealerships in India have reportedly started accepting bookings for the Kodiaq SUV at a token amount of Rs. 20,000. The automaker hasn't yet announced the commencement of bookings for the Kodiaq in India, though the SUV has already been listed on the company's official website under the 'En Route' tagline.

Skoda dealers that are currently accepting bookings for the Kodiaq have also indicated that the SUV will be available with both - petrol and diesel engines. Petrol variants are expected to get a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder unit rated at 177 BHP and 320 Nm, while the diesel model will likely come with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder unit which will be available in two states of tune - 147 BHP & 340 Nm and 187 BHP & 400 Nm. Transmission duties are expected to be taken care by a 7-speed DSG gearbox. The SUV will also come with an all-wheel drive system.

The Kodiaq is essentially a production version of the Skoda Vision S concept. It is also Skoda's first ever 7-seater offering. Built on the VW Group's MQB platform, the SUV is expected to compete against the likes of Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner.
