Rumour: Renault Kaptur's India launch around festive season

According to media reports, Renault will be launching the Kaptur crossover in India in the third quarter of FY 2017-18. This means that the launch will be scheduled around this year's festive season i.e. October - December 2017.

The Kaptur has been designed for emerging markets like Russia, Brazil and India. The model coming to India, called the Kaptur, is different to the Renault Captur that is on sale in Europe. The Euro-spec car is based on the Clio hatchback, while the model coming to India shares its underpinnings with the Duster. At a length of 4,333 mm, the Kaptur won't be targeting the sub 4-m segment. Renault will rather be placing it above the Duster, to compete against the Hyundai Creta.

Though no official specification related information has been revealed yet, Renault is expected to equip the Kaptur with a 1.6-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The top-end model might also get all-wheel drive setup, similar to what is offered with the Duster.
