Rumour: Maruti checking oil filters of cars for defects

Maruti Suzuki is rumoured to be inspecting the oil filters on the petrol-powered variants of the Dzire and Ciaz sedans and the Celerio hatchback.

While Maruti has not made an official announcement regarding the issue, it is believed to be calling the owners of the affected cars over phone. The company is even sending authorised personnel to customers' addresses to inspect the vehicles. If the oil filter, which is made by Purolater, is found to be faulty, it will be replaced free of cost.

The oil filter is a device which keeps dust and other contaminants in the engine oil from entering the engine and causing damage.

It is likely that the Ertiga could also be affected.
