Rumour: Mahindra XUV500 to get new feature additions

Mahindra is reportedly working on new variants of the XUV500 that will come with added technological features. This addition appears to be Mahindra's attempt to tackle the upcoming competition from the Tata Hexa, which is scheduled to be launched in India on January 18.

As part of this update, the XUV will get some advanced connectivity features, including EcoSense telematics which will allow users to track various parameters of the SUV in real time on their smartphone. Using EcoSense, XUV owners will be able to track the vehicle location, fuel economy as well as wear and tear of parts. Other likely feature additions to the XUV include mood lighting and a safety button which will automatically call a preset emergency contact number in case of an accident. Mahindra will also be offering this safety button to existing XUV owners through a minor software update.

Mahindra has already integrated Android Auto in the XUV500 and is now planning to add Apple CarPlay as well. The updated XUV is expected to be launched in the coming months with a minor price hike. Currently, more than 2,000 units of the XUV500 are sold in India every month. With the aforementioned feature additions, the company will be trying to maintain these sales figures as it is likely to face stiff competition from the Tata Hexa.
