Rumour: Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS to get 1.0L turbo petrol unit

According to a media report, the Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS is likely to get a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine in early 2020.

Reports suggest that Grand i10 NIOS could use the same 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that is offered in the Venue compact SUV. However, it is rumoured to be de-tuned to around 99 BHP. This engine could be paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox and may not get a 7-speed dual-clutch option.

The more powerful Grand i10 NIOS is expected to get N Line inspired styling. It could get new alloy wheels and all-black interiors with contrast stitching. Reports suggest that this variant may not be badged as the i10 N Line in India.

At present, the Grand i10 NIOS is offered with a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that makes 82 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 114 Nm @ 4,000 rpm and a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder diesel unit that puts out 74 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm @ 1,750-2,250 rpm. Both engines are available with either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT.
