Rumour: Ford & Mahindra to form a JV

In September 2017, Ford and Mahindra had announced a strategic partnership. Now, according to a media report, the two brands are likely to form a new joint venture (JV).

Reports suggest that Ford will have a 49% stake in the new JV, while Mahindra will control 51%. Both brands could share vehicle platforms and take advantage of each other's distribution networks. The brands have already announced a jointly developed C-segment SUV that will be built by Mahindra and sold independently under both brands. Mahindra will supply engines for Ford's future products and in return leverage its global reach.

Neither Ford nor Mahindra have confirmed these reports of a joint venture.
