The Royal Enfield Himalayan has been caught in action on a dash-cam. The motorcycle was spotted near the town of Puzhal on the road from Chennai to Hyderabad and as seen in the video, it isn't wearing any camouflage. The Himalayan was recently caught undisguised, and the test mule seen here does not have the windshield, carrier or crash guards seen in the previous spy shots.

Moderator bblost also had an opportunity to observe the motorcycle while stationary, and confirms that the test mule had a rear mono-shock absorber, an oil cooler, a new frame and very tall stance. The engine is a single-cylinder unit, with the displacement expected to hover in the 380 - 400cc range (media reports so far state the bike will use a 410cc motor).

The Himalayan will be Royal Enfield's first dual-purpose motorcycle. Royal Enfield has seen an upward trajectory on its sales charts over the past few years, but with more competitors entering the leisure motorcycling segment, products like the Himalayan can be deemed necessary for the company's long term goals. Additionally, the brand is prioritizing its presence in global markets for which its range will need to be reworked and updated to keep up with the competition.

Royal Enfield could reveal the Himalayan towards the end of 2015 and like the Continental GT, the motorcycle may make its debut internationally before being launched in India.
